What are Kettlebells?
Kettlebells have mysterious origins. Some say they were used in ancient Rome as part of training for the first Olympics; others say they came from Scotland or Russia. Wherever they came from it is hard to believe that a tool so versatile and effective has been lost and forgotten for so long.
If you’re not sure what kettlebells look like imagine a cannon ball with a handle attached.
Kettlebells are suitable for both men and women and address a range of goals from slimming, toning, strength development and power enhancement. They are available in various sizes ranging from 6kg right up to a monstrous 48kg. Most women will start with a 6kg or 8kg and men usually start with a 12kg or 16kg kettlebell. By swinging, pressing, snatching and pulling the kettlebells you can create a workout that not only burns a tremendous amount of calories, but also carves out a physique like no other.
Using Kettlebells
I have been an ADPF Advanced coach for some time now and I can honestly say the results I have achieved with them are amazing. I have been training with various resistance tools and training for many years and managed to increase my strength by 30% and shred my mid section in as little as 12 weeks by using kettle bells. My normal workout just wasn’t hard enough any more!
Due to the slightly awkward centre of gravity of the kettlebell, they offer a totally new challenge to your joints and cause your body to work extra hard to stabilise. This means that you can rehabilitate and strengthen joints far more quickly and effectively with a kettlebell.
Kettlebells are NOT something that you should attempt using unsupervised and although the rewards are huge, it is very easy to make silly mistakes and cause yourself more harm than good. I would recommend booking in for a few sessions to build up a good foundation before going at it alone.
The Kettlebells Workout
Kettlebell training is tough and you really know when you are working out with one. For this reason sessions tend to start with only 30 minutes; then you can increase time as you begin to adapt. My kettlebell workouts use full body movements utilising hundreds of muscles at a time. Thus your body adapts as one complete unit as well as burning maximum calories in minimum time. I always know that once one of my clients is at a position to workout correctly with a kettlebell they will get results rapidly. I have seen this time and time again.
Believe it or not I train more women with kettlebells than men. The fact that you are using both your cardiovascular and muscular systems at the same time means fat melts away fast. You also get your results without the unwanted bulking effect regular resistance training can have.
Why Train with Me?
I have been trained and certified by Angie Dowds herself. If you have seen her on T.V. you will already know she does not take any prisoners! She can and does fail trainers that are not up to her elite standard, as to ensure the quality of the trainers using her name.
So you can be sure that you are getting the very best supervision currently in existence to achieve your fitness goals.
